Mid-West Seed Services, Inc. will have several openings in Fall 2008 for college students during the school year to assist in our Germination and Herbicide Testing Laboratories. You will gain experience working with corn, soybean, sunflower, sorghum, legume, and/or grass seed species. Work includes preparing media and samples, planting samples and general lab work. Students with majors in Agronomy, Biology, Horticulture, and Manufacturing Engineering Technology are encouraged to apply.
Students working in our Protein/DNA Laboratory will gain experience with genetic purity and GMO seed testing. Testing will involve working with multi-channel pipettes, enzyme-linked immunoassays, DNA extractions, electrophoresis, and automatic equipment. This lab also does herbicide trait and genetically modified organism (GMO) testing. Students with majors in Microbiology, Chemistry, Pre-Veterinary, Pre-Medical are encouraged to apply.
Student positions are seasonal positions beginning in September and ending in April/May. We offer flexible scheduling between 8 am and 5:30 pm Monday through Friday. Starting pay is $8.00 per hour, with a pay increase after working 150 hours.
